Active Carbon from Date Stones for Phenol Oxidation in Trickle Bed Reactor, Experimental and Kinetic Study

چکیده

The catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of phenol has been studied in a trickle bed reactor
using active carbon prepared from date stones as catalyst by ferric and zinc chloride activation (FAC ZAC). activated carbons were characterized measuring their surface area adsorption capacity besides conventional properties, then checked for CWAO reactor operating at different conditions (i.e. pH, gas flow rate, LHSV, temperature oxygen partial pressure). results showed that the ZAC), without any metal supported, gives highest conversion. reaction network proposed accounts all detected intermediate products composed several consecutive parallel reactions. parameters model estimated experimental data obtained continuous temperatures (120-160 C) pressures (8-12 bar). Simple power law well Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) expressions accounting effects modeling network. A non-linear multi-parameter estimation approach was used to simultaneously evaluate high number parameters. Approach simple only succeeds fitting disappearance. Instead, when L-H are incorporated steps, accurately describes concentration profiles, giving mean deviations below 10%.

Kinetics of phenol oxidation in a trickle bed reactor over active carbon catalyst

The wet air oxidation of phenol over a commercial active carbon catalyst was studied in a trickle bed reactor (TBR) in the temperature and oxygen partial pressure ranges of 120–160 ◦C and 0.1–0.2 MPa, respectively. The performance of the active carbon was compared in terms of phenol and COD destruction. The weight change of active carbon due to reaction was also measured. Finally, oxic phenol a...

Styrene Biofiltration in a Trickle-Bed Reactor

The biological treatment of styrene waste gas in a trickle–bed filter (TBF) was investigated. The bioreactor consisted of a two-part glass cylinder (ID 150 mm) filled with 25 mm polypropylene Pall rings serving as packing material. The bed height was 1m. Although the laboratory temperature was maintained at 22 °C, the water temperature in the trickle–bed filter was slightly lower (about 18 °C)....

Water pollution abatement by catalytic wet air oxidation in a trickle bed reactor

Catalytic wet air oxidation of an aqueous phenol solution was carried out in a trickle bed reactor at mild conditions of temperature (120–160◦C) and oxygen partial pressure (0.6–1.2 MPa). Tests were performed at space times up to 1 h. A commercially available copper oxide supported over g-alumina was used as catalyst. The results show that the phenol conversion, the chemical oxygen demand (COD)...

Experimental Analysis and Evaluation of the Mass Transfer Process in a Trickle-bed Reactor

A transient experimental analysis of a three-phase descendent-cocurrent trickle-bed H2O/CH4Ar/γ-Al2O3 system was made using the stimulus-response technique, with the gas phase as a reference. Methane was used as a tracer and injected into the argon feed and the concentration vs time profiles were obtained at the entrance and exit of the bed, which were maintained at 298K and 1.013 10 Pa. A math...
